These hand-beaded earrings were made by T'boli artisans in South Cotabato, Mindanao. They feature an old motif found in textiles, tattoo's, pottery carvings, and shield carvings, found throughout the different ethnic groups in the Philippines. This motif is seen as the "eyes of the ancestors."
